Living with a 1969 Mercedes Old Car and not Going Crazy While Learning a Thing or Two

by admin on December 17, 2009

It’s been a great year.
Ronald and I have owned our 1969 Mercedes now for I think 3 years. I’m glad to report we’ve been thrilled with the car. Our cottage is in northern Kentucky, near Independence, and we enjoy driving in the car during the spring months. Overall I’d say it’s an excellent car for the money.

Ever since we bought the Mercedes we’ve been behind the wheel. We drove to visit my wife’s uncle in Oregon many times over the year. The Mercedes does Ok on gas and has not given us a lot issues in terms of repair.

The Mercedes is in tip top shape, having been restored in the last two years. The previous owners seem to have taken good care of it over the past 23 years. Our previous car, a Bentley, had plenty of issues and we weren’t depressed to see it go.

It was stressed to me to get insurance on the vehicle. For our classic car insurance canada we went with a company called Leland-West. We signed up for the policy completely online, using their excellent web site. We found the company by reviewing the information on old cars. It’s a cool place for finding the lowest cost on insurance for classic cars. We insured the Mercedes for a quarter of what Geico wanted.

The antique car insurance was just in time because within a month of getting it we were involved in a horrible accident with a Chevrolet. The accident totalled both cars. Our Leland-West insurance agent called and let us know the car would be gotten back to us without problems! It was a relief because of our attachment to the car.

The worth of the car has gone up a lot over the past three years to our surprise. It’s hard to believe we paid $14,000 for the car back in the late ninties. Now it’s worth at least $60,000! We’ve been offered this much several times this year. My significant other is very excited!

Now is the time to find a car you enjoy! Go out and don’t hesitate, there’s a world of good condition Mercedess out there. Buy a Mercedes now before the price goes up! You won’t be sorry.
